THE BIGGER PICTURE
Despite the demoralising result, Modric became only the second player after former Los Blancos teammate Cristiano Ronaldo to feature in five different editions of the European Championship. Ronaldo had achieved the feat at Euro 2020. The record, however, will be rewritten very soon as the Al-Nassr star is all set to feature in his sixth Euro campaign as Portugal take on the Czech Republic on Tuesday in their first match.
